ARTPOP CONCEPT ART (2020)
Concept artwork, packaging and promotional material for Lady Gaga's 2013 album, 'ARTPOP'.

Official artwork
With 'ARTPOP', Lady Gaga wanted to explore the relationship between 'pop' music and fine 'art'. The original artwork, designed by Jeff Koons, featured a nude sculpture of the singer overlayed with Bernini's Apollo and Daphne and Botticelli's The Birth of Venus.

Design concept
Koons' photos were used to design a simpler, more coherent packaging inspired by fine art pieces by (a) Piet Mondrian, (b) Wassily Kandinsky, (c) Kazimir Malevich and (d) Andy Warhol.
